Travel Route

The previous route (posted below) is not accurate.  There have been too many variables to keep a strict schedule, including money problems, auto problems, and general issues such as content development, sunburn, and bad weather.

As of August 21st, I’ve traveled through Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland.  I’m currently on my way to New York.  In a few of those states, I was only traveling through and gathered a minimal number of stories, but so far I’ve made multiple stops throughout 11 states.

I should be in New York until late Monday or Tuesday; then I’m heading to Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and up to Michigan for the Grand Finale.

So far I’ve stopped in the following cities: Eugene, Portland, Medford (OR), Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno, Merced, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Grand Junction (CO), Cameo (CO), Glenwood Springs, Vail, Denver, Houston, New Orleans, Orlando, Miami Beach, Port St. Lucie (FL), Brunswick (GA), Charleston, Charlotte, and Washington (D.C.).  I’ve also stopped in random places throughout the country, from rest stops to grocery stores, to farmer’s markets in the middle of nowhere.

My next stops include the following cities (subject to change): Manhattan, Providence, Pennsylvania, Alliance (OH), Elkhart (IN), Chicago, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Saginaw, and Grand Rapids.

PREVIOUS POST: This is the route I plan to take while collecting stories from the recession. I was hoping to hit all the lower 48, but time and money are the big dilemmas. Luckily I’ve been able to craft a route that includes most of the major areas that have been affected by the recession. I want to hear from as many people as possible.  Here’s my route (subject to change):

Wait… I also want to mention something.  If you live in one of these areas and would like to host The Man in a Van Project at your event on the corresponding day, please let me know by responding to this post.  Thanks!
